| Burglar makes off with two pairs of panties
A Fort Walton Beach burglar recently lifted unmentionables from a mobile home during a break-in. The resident of a Heritage Road mobile home told a deputy she noticed the rear door to her trailer "slightly open," according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report. She also said someone had removed the window unit air conditioner and opened the window. Among the items missing from the home were her son’s Sony Playstation and a controller ($200), about 20 games ($15 each), about 10 DVDs ($15 each) and two pairs of girl’s panties. .
Northern Lights' engines power fishing boats, yachts
The most important attribute of a boat is its ability to keep the water on the opposite side of the hull from its occupants. Achieving that is the job of the designers and builders. But once that's accomplished, perhaps you might like a way to move the boat. Or have some electricity for radios, navigation systems, lights, even air conditioning. That's the job of Northern Lights. Northern Lights may be a small company -- just 70 employees in five buildings tucked along the north side of the Ship Canal just east of the Ballard Bridge. Being a privately held company in a niche market doesn't make for a high profile. But within that niche, Northern Lights is huge, known throughout the global yacht-building business as the company to turn to for the modified diesel engines that power a boat's electrical systems.
Successful Breast-Feeding
Ask your doctor if your hospital has one. Or see a lactation consultant -- you can ask your doctor or the La Leche League for a referral. You should make these preparations before you'll be ready to breast-feed, Lebbing and Bonuck advised. Just a few sessions with a lactation consultant can pay off, Bonuck said. "You will understand the normal physiology of how the milk is produced," she said. The consultant, working with a doll, can help women practice the best positions to breast-feed and get comfortable with the concept. Be sure the hospital personnel know you want to breast-feed. "Make your wishes known," Bonuck said. "Some [hospitals] have cards that say, 'Breast-feed only.' " That reduces the risk of confusion and your baby mistakenly getting a bottle of formula, Bonuck said.

The OSU researchers say the region has not yet fully recovered from last year's historic hypoxia. (NEWPORT, Ore. ) - A team of Oregon State University scientists monitoring near-shore ocean conditions off Oregon says that oxygen levels in the lower water column have plummeted, thrusting the region into a hypoxic event for the sixth consecutive year. Hypoxia can lead to significant marine die-offs, the researchers say, depending on the severity, duration and location of the low-oxygen zone. Although conditions this summer have not yet duplicated the severity of the historic hypoxic event of 2006, the outlook for the remainder of the summer and early fall is uncertain. Measurements taken by the OSU scientists in late June mirrored those of last year, but a shift to a southerly wind pattern in mid-July pushed the mass of low-oxygen water away from the shoreline.
